TUESDAYS

Cartooning Art (3rd-5th): Young Rembrandts™ Cartooning curriculum uses a structured stepwise format to teach students to create their own animated characters in humorous settings. We break down objects and ideas into simple shapes, then use exaggeration, caricature, and personification to playfully construct our own cartoon images. Our Cartooning curriculum develops academically relevant skills, including spatial-motor planning, mental discipline and fine motor skills, while providing a fun, enriching experience for our students. New lessons every week!

 

Lego WeDo Robotics: Jurassic Bots (3rd-5th): Journey back in time with Lego WeDo 2.0: Jurassic! In this course, children will have the opportunity to explore the prehistoric world of dinosaurs as they build and program their own robots. Starting with a base robot model, children will use their creativity and problem-solving skills to transform their models into a variety of dinosaur-themed robots. This course is designed to give children a challenge where critical thinking and inference will be emphasized. This will provide students with the opportunity to apply their STEM and computer science skills to control their dinosaur creations!

THURSDAYS

Chess (3rd-5th): Learn chess with Magnus Academy (formerly Silver Knights), world champion Magnus Carlsen’s academy!  We’ve taught 100,000 children to play including state and national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games.  Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies. Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments (in-person and online) outside of club time.  This in-person club includes free online extras including weekly practice tournaments and an event with world champion Magnus Carlsen or Judit Polgar, the best female chess player of all time.  All chess supplies provided. Zumba (3rd-5th): Kids in Motion Zumba class is a high energy, contagiously exciting dance fitness workout specifically designed for children. Classes are designed with kid friendly music, movements, and routines. In addition to a dance workout, they will also play games such as freeze dance, dancing 4 corners, limbo, center star, follow the leader, balloon games, limbo, and many more. Zumba for Kids is a perfect fit for children and it creates an environment of excitement around being healthy and active! This class helps children make friends, get active after school, and love dance fitness.
